Duane makes investing in real estate less taxing! He has a witty sense of humor, but he is serious when it comes to helping you understand the role that your investments and real estate plays in regard to your tax return. He is responsible for over 500 tax returns each year, preparing and planning taxes for individuals and small businesses.
Duane has been an integral part of the tax preparation community for nearly 40 years, beginning with Peterson & Associates in 1974. He branched out as owner of Gilliland & Associates in 1990, then joined the Williams & Nulle, PLLC team in 1996. Duane earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Walla Walla University in 1972 and his Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1988.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, Duane is also an active local volunteer. He has served as past President for the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Skagit Mount Vernon Kiwanis, and Love in the Name of Christ – Skagit County.
Duane notes that one of his biggest personal achievements is having the opportunity to experience the growth of his family, which includes four children and eleven darling grandchildren. It is not surprising that his motivation to achieve greater heights in life directly relates to his other passion, which is mountain climbing. An outdoor enthusiast, Duane has traveled far and wide seeking new peaks to conquer, but still describes the North Cascades as a mountain climber’s paradise. It is safe to say that after 30 years in the Skagit Valley, his roots are firmly planted here.
